Isla Mujeres "Island of Women"

Isla Mujeres, which translates to "Island of Women," is a charming four-mile-long island in Mexico's Caribbean. With its laid-back atmosphere, it’s just a 20-minute ferry ride from the bustling and famous city of Cancun, making it a popular spot for day-trippers... However, the true beauty of Isla is best experienced over a few days.

The island boasts stunning white sand beaches and mesmerizing turquoise waters. Playa Norte, its most famous beach, has been ranked among the best in Mexico and even the world. With clear, shallow waters that extend nearly 100 meters, before you can swim, it’s perfect for cooling off, and floating under the gorgeous Caribbean sky. Here, you'll find boats and yachts anchoring for the day, especially during the summer months when whale shark tours return for lunch and refreshments.

Guests at Hidalgo Boutique Rooms can enjoy an exclusive deal at a beach club on Playa Norte, offering complimentary beach loungers with a minimum spend of 1,000 MXN on food and drinks (500 MXN per person).

Playa Norte is also the ideal spot to witness breathtaking sunsets.

For an unforgettable sunrise experience, head to Punta Sur. It’s said to be the first place in Mexico where the sun's rays touch land, making it a special way to start your day.

At the southern tip of the island lies the Temple of Ixchel, the ruins believed to be dedicated to the Mayan goddess of fertility, love, and medicine. You can explore the sculpture park, which features statues illustrating the history of Isla Mujeres and the region, before enjoying a walk along the footpaths that wind around the island's southern cliff, with stunning views!

Isla Mujeres offers a variety of activities for visitors. Explore its vibrant underwater life through snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters, or rent a golf cart to discover the island’s hidden gems in the local colonias. Check out additional activities available on the island, including cooking classes, food tours, scuba diving, massages, and more.
